You guys owe me one. I just took a huge risk and downed Pink while getting some errands done around my college campus.

What if I was seen? I can see the headline in the school paper now complete with a big paparazzi-style picture of me: “Breaking News: Energy Drinks Blur Gender Line and Induce Gender Confusion among Students.”

Back when Rip-It Chics were around I made sure to cross dress and stay indoors when I drank them to avoid such problems.

Flavor

I’m not sure if they gave this drink its name before or after they tasted it. Even as soon as you crack it open, you smell nothing but pink grapefruit. The taste to follow does not betray the initial judgment, either. Oddly enough though, grapefruit is nowhere to be found in the ingredients. Now I’m not only scared for a loss of my manhood, but of my senses, too. Hold me.

Ingredients

Working hard to appeal to all the ladies out there in need of both an energy and image boost, this drink is sugar and calorie free. Ginseng and Taurine naturally call this drink home, with the rest of the ingredients actually being impressive. The caffeine content is a mediocre 120mg, but there’s a respectable 102mg of guarana. Highlighting the nutrition facts table is the Vitamin B6 and B12 content, which combined offer 763% of your B-vitamin daily value. Impressive indeed.

Energy

Judging from the ingredients, I expected a barely noticeable jump start with a respectable baseline increase in energy. My guess was spot-on. This drink certainly has value in the energy department, you just have to wait a little bit to appreciate it. The energy comes on slow, but when it arrives it feels natural and seems to last a little longer to boot.

Verdict: This drink falls a little short in taste and I’m not a big fan of the slow and wholesome energy boost. If this drink had about 50mg more caffeine, used real sugar, and relaxed the obvious indications of their target demographic, this could be a definite go-to drink. Until then, you didn’t read this review from me. Capisci?
