Alpine Start Instant Coffee Review

I don’t drink instant coffee on a regular basis but I do appreciate the convenience of instant coffee during camping trips and backpacking adventures. Since I enjoy my morning coffee ritual, I don’t want to suffer through a bad tasting coffee even if I am in the woods. Therefore, I was curious about what Alpine Start is bringing to the table with their three varieties of instant coffee.

Original Blend: I prefer medium roasted coffee beans, so I was glad to see that Alpine Start’s Original Blend was made from medium roasted Arabica beans from the high altitudes of Colombia. It has a smooth flavor and is easy and enjoyable to drink. I would definitely enjoy this cuppa when out in the woods.

Coconut Creamer Latte: This is their Original Blend but with coconut based creamer added for those that like their coffee white. Nondairy creamers usually don’t whiten enough for my preference and this version was on par with that. But, I did appreciate that this product was not presweetened like similar products that are usually too sweet. I imagine for those that typically drink coffee with dairy alternatives, this will be a pretty solid white coffee product.

Dirty Chai Latte: This version is complete with a nice blend of chai tea spices, their original blend of instant coffee, and instant black tea. It’s whitened with soy milk and doesn’t contain any added sugar. I liked this version and it had a great flavor blend. Again, I like my coffee a little whiter, but other than that it is a solid product.

Ingredients and Effect

The ingredients in Alpine Start are pretty simple which is great to see and they disclose the caffeine levels of their products online which is also commendable since coffee producers usually don’t and aren’t required to disclose by law or even industry standard.

Alpine Start does have higher caffeine levels than instant coffee typically does and is similar to Starbucks Via caffeine-wise but without the burnt taste. This is great because when I camp or backpack I want an instant coffee that’s more in line with my typical espresso-based coffee in order to keep my caffeine consumption consistent.

Another convenient thing with Alpine Start is that both the Original and the Dirty Chai Latte dissolve easily in cold water as well which is perfect for making an iced coffee on a hot day.

Overall, Alpine Start has produced quality instant coffee products and they will be a great addition to any outdoor adventure or your home coffee station.
