Proper Wild Energy Shot Review
Over my years at Caffeine Informer, I’ve reviewed a lot of energy shots but over the last few years, very few. This market segment has fewer brands than it used to so I was excited to try Proper Wild to see if it had anything new to offer and differentiate itself from what’s already out there.
Taste
The first point of separation came after the first sip. Most energy shots hit the consumer with an intensely sweet and bold flavor that seeks to cover up the taste of the energy supplements. Proper Wild is different. It is mildly sweet and the flavors are subtle. The bitterness of the caffeine does come through a tad but I’d prefer that any day compared to the overly sweet and artificial flavor most shots deliver.
Peach Mango has a light tropical flavor, while Ginger is a nice blend of ginger and lemon. My favorite is Blackberry which offers a nice blackberry flavor that doesn’t taste artificial.
Ingredients
A Proper Wild Energy Shot sets itself apart here too. No artificial sweeteners, no artificial flavors or colors, and no preservatives. Proper Wild is just purified water, organic and natural fruit juice concentrate, natural flavors, organic caffeine, and L-theanine. This is impressive and why you must refrigerate Proper Wild after opening if you don’t drink the whole bottle.
Effect
I like that Proper Wild is different in the effect department as well. It doesn’t just rely on the quick energy boost caffeine delivers but it enhances that effect with L-theanine. L-theanine is believed to elicit more of a calm alertness instead of the jittery feeling caffeine tends to deliver.
I did experience a noticeable and calm lift from Proper Wild but its claim of “all-day energy” is most likely reserved for those without tolerance to caffeine or L-theanine. Daily caffeine consumers should expect 2-6 hours of alertness while occasional caffeine consumers will likely experience 4-8 hours. Along with caffeine tolerance, individual sensitivity to caffeine will cause the effect to vary as well.
Overall, Proper Wild has done a great job setting itself apart from other energy shots and I think energy shot consumers will enjoy what Proper Wild has to offer.
