ZUM XR Energy Drink (pronounced zoom) is an energy/sports drink hybrid that contains time-released caffeine.
Most energy drinks deliver their caffeine as soon as they are consumed, but ZUM uses innovative technology that slowly releases some of the drink's caffeine over time, which can last up to 5 hours.
When a 16 fl.oz. bottle is consumed, Zum Energy Drink releases 60mg of caffeine immediately and then gradually releases 140mg over an extended period.
The makers of ZUM do this by encapsulating the caffeine in tiny beads made of microcrystalline cellulose, which only begin dissolving once in the small intestine.
Besides caffeine, ZUM also delivers electrolytes, carbs, and hydration. There is also a 10-calorie version sweetened with Stevia extract.
