Decaf 5 Hour Energy?

Decaf 5 Hour Energy is also from the makers of the popular 5 Hour two ounce energy shot.

They are notorious for never listing caffeine amounts (hidden in a proprietary blend).

However, they do state that “5-Hour Energy contains caffeine comparable to a cup of the leading premium coffee.” Whatever that means. We were able to nail down the caffeine here.

But Decaf 5 Hour?

They have now released a decaf 5 Hour Energy (see more) that contains “only 6mg of caffeine - about as much as half a cup of decaffeinated coffee.”

So the question here is: how does the decaf version “provide hours of alertness and focus” – without caffeine or any other stimulant?

They Say…..

According to their website:

Like original 5-hour ENERGY® Decaf 5-hour ENERGY® contains B-vitamins and amino acids plus Choline. It is vital to the production of neurotransmitters in the brain that affect memory, intelligence and mood. Choline is present in eggs, soy and meats.

B-Vitamins for energy? That’s stretching it surely, at least in the short-term.

B Vitamins and amino acids would help with having higher energy levels in general, but they do not deliver an immediate boost like caffeine does.

I guess people do believe it works because after several years Decaf 5 Hour Energy is still for sale.

Have you tried Decaf 5 Hour? Does it work for you?

  • I totally agree with Legend, why not take the supplement with energy drink….and I did just that yesterday when the fist of its kind came out in the market for the first time…it will be available over the internet later this week. (website is not running yet(you will be the first one to know) Now, this energy drink, is a healthy alternative to today’s energy drinks. It will provide all the power of an energy drink while working as a dietary supplement. It is an advanced formula of antioxidants and other important nutrients packed in a delicious beverage that contains no artificial flavors, colors, sweeteners or preservatives. Is green tea based, providing consumers with a natural lift, and contains Olivol(R), (olive-fruit extract). Will be sold in cans, and energy surge(TM) in little packs, an easy-to-carry stick pack, perfect for a gym water bottle.

I feel more tired after drinking 5 hour energy then before, I waited for a half an hour for it to kick in and now I really need to go to sleep. But then again one small red bull just puts me to sleep as well. I will try the second shot tomorrow but I am disappointed as I needed to study tonight and I did not feel like going for red bull. Anyways I do not recommend it, but it does taste awesome.

i like all energy drinks thay all taste good but i like them to give me energy to which five hour energy does not give me.

This product is horrible, it is like taking speed, LSD, crystal meth or some drugs I’ve read about that makes you jittery, nervous, heart palpatations, tightness and pressure in your head like it will explode.

Heart racing, loose stools, almost vomited, blood rushing to my head, head was burning ect…. It feels like you are high or in a trance. Could not sleep properly at least for two days. it’s been 3 days and i’m still experiencing negative syptoms. I am healed by the Lord’s stripes but I will never take this product again……. Stay away from it, dangerous poison-witch tonic…..

  • Pretty much everyone I’ve talked to associate B-Vitamins with “energy.” B-vitamins simply help you metabolize nutrients into energy, so without a meal or any nutrients to metabolize the energy shot is pretty much worthless.

5 Hour Energy is the best, most healthful “energy” supplement I have ever used. Here are some key advantages:

    1. Zero sugar. I quit eating sugar a few weeks ago (I was addicted), and now I sweeten everything with stevia and drink sugar-free chocolate protein when I need my chocolate fix. This lifestyle adjustment alone has done more to help my energy levels than any energy supplement.

    2. Vitamins. Yes, it IS better than popping a Centrum. Liquid vitamins are highly bioavailable and will give you a nutritious boost.

    3. N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine and Phenylalanine. These amino acids are precursors to neurotransmitters like dopamine and epinephrine. When you consume an energy supplement, you do not feel the supplement itself, but rather the release of neurotransmitters that the supplement triggers. By providing the raw materials for your body to manufacture these neurotransmitters, 5HE is actually paying for itself, biologically speaking.

Want to feel better and have continuous energy? Stop eating sugar.
Take it from a former sugarmaniac.

Is it just me, or do most of the comments sound like paid endorsements? To the individual who claims to be an ultra athlete?, i’m calling you out. You mean to tell me that you intentionally ingest a diuretic(caffeine) while you undertake these feats? Really?! Just burn your money for heat. It’ll be put to better use!

How is b-vitamins for energy stretching it?

B-vitamins boost your energy metabolism, it makes sense.

  • Mark

I can’t have too much caffeine because of a sensitive central nervous system. Too much and I feel jittery, agitated, and like my nerves are on fire. The energy caffeine gives me is more painful than anything. The reason 5 hour energy works is because of the significant amount of B-vitamins and other nutrients. About 12000% times the recommended daily value in a single bottle for B-vitamins, which forces the body to metabolize faster, producing more energy over a longer period of time. I use the decaf and it works fabulously. Delicious, too.

“Heard of FRS? Just try it. It’s new and healthier than this crap.”

    What is FRS?

  • joe

ah screw it were is my 5150 i hate haaate 5 hour energy stick to crank and bawls

  • Angela

I love 5-hr energy and all the folks writing about “why bother without the caffeine” need to relax and have a cup of coffee. Seriously? Why would you drink an energy drink for the caffeine? I’ve been searching for one without it because caffeine makes me sick; even what’s in a Coke is too much for me. This is it!! I work full-time and am in school full-time, and this stuff keeps me going through all 12-credits and all 12-hour shifts. Keeps my brain alert and my body moving.

  • Jeff

I like the decaf 5 hour energy. It has WAAAAAAAY more b vitamins than any other B complex vitamin. You guys don’t understand. It’s supposed to give you a natural energetic feeling. If you have gotten little sleep, you will neet to have 2 but no more than 2 per day as it has enough folic acid for ONLY one day.

    Caffeine makes me all jittery.

  • Ashley

I love this stuff. The decaf 5 hour energy is better for pregnant women since they are not supposed to drink caffeine, which means I can drink it as much as I want..

  • Sarah

Tastes good? Hell no, it’s disgusting.

When something is listed as containing more than 100% of your daily value it does NOT mean you’re getting more than 100% of the effect. For the most part it really means that most of that excess is just going right out of your system. If you haven’t eaten it’s possible that your body can’t even use the full 100%. Contains “12000% times the recommended daily value in a single bottle for B-vitamins”? That means 11900% or more is going to waste.

However, it does give me a small boost of energy and I don’t crash quite as bad as I do with coffee.

Don’t quite see the point of decaf though. If you can’t drink the caffeine, why use a 5-hour?

Also, diet and regular exercise help boost energy and overall wellbeing

Cleg Burris here. This is total mind control. Don’t sell out to the man and buy this line of inquiry. Decaf is bogus and we all know it. Should rename it 5 hour nap time baby.

  • Graveyards

I’m curious about what way caffeine makes you sick. I’ve had bad experiences where anything containing caffeine in it makes me sick and very… emotional? It puts me in a terrible mood the next morning or hours later. Is this the same for you? Because I’ve been looking for a solution to this for a while. and if Decaf 5 hour energy works maybe I should give it a try!

  • Matt

B Vitamins for energy is not stretching it… A friend of mine, surgeon by profession, has taken B Vitamin pills for energy for years.

  • Dissappointed

Lol, b-vitamins don’t give you energy like caffeine. You won’t feel more alert and energetic and focused. B-vitamins are part of cellular respiration, meaning they are used in your cells to keep them active. It’s like advertising, “New water supplement boosts mood and promotes alertness.” Lol, yeah, because water (and b-vitamins) are just necessities for life, unlike caffeine.
