Monster Rehab Energy Drink

monster-rehab-review

Here we review Monster Rehab Energy Drink a non-carbonated, less sugar beverage marketed as a sports recovery and/or hangover aid.

Monster has added 4 new flavors to the Rehab family as well, Green Tea, Orangeade, Pink Lemonade and Rojo Tea. Rehab tries be way less boring with three flavors to choose from.

Taste

Lemonade:
monster rehab lemonadeAs I opened the Rehab can, I got the very refreshing scent of lemons, very close to that of RS Recovery. The taste was so refreshing. First there’s no carbonation, which made the drink very smooth and almost too easy to drink.

As Monster Rehab crashed over my taste buds, I got a wonderful lemonade taste.Yet where was the tea taste? After a rush of lemonade, I began to get a little hint of the tea towards the end, not very strong, almost a afterthought, yet enough to be present and refreshing. Not quite 50/50 lemonade tea, more of a lemonade with a hint of tea, yet still very good.

Green Tea:
green teaI must say I was quite disappointed when I read the flavor was green tea.  I’ve never been much for the green tea flavors on the market, but I  gave it a try.  Remember all that stuff about green tea? Throw it out the window.

This Rehab, like the original is very smooth with no carbonation.  As I did get a bit of tea flavor, it wasn’t too much “green tea” flavor.  No hint of bitterness or being to sweet.  The taste  was  just very refreshing and just right.

Orangeade:
monster-rehab-orangeadeI myself am a big fan of the orange flavor, so getting my hands on this Monster has more than exciting. Popping that orange Monster tab on the top of the can produced a sweet orange aroma, only peaking my interest even more.

Yet that first taste wasn’t quite what I expected. As it’s very smooth with no carbonation like all Rehabs, their was only a slight orange flavor, then followed by a pineapple taste. By no means am I complaining, I just wasn’t expecting the pineapple.

The orange to pineapple flavor was a very good transition. I did not get any taste of the tea flavor that the outside of the can says it includes, but with the very pleasant Orange/Pineapple taste it was by no means missed.

Rojo Tea:
Not knowing what Rojo was, I honestly can say I didn’t know what to expect.  As I popped the top and took that first taste, I couldn’t  really pinpoint the taste.  This Rehab seems a bit sweeter then the others, but not overly sweet.

The flavor comes from a blend of Rooibos tea, which is used to make different types of herbal teas and is praised due to its high levels of antioxidants. Add a splash of cranberry juice, and you have a taste unlike any other drink on the market. Another hit for Monster…

Monster Rehab Energy Ingredients

As for ingredients, Rehab is much different then any other energy on the market, so pay close attention.

The first new thing I found is what Monster calls their “Rehab Energy Blend” which is made up of caffeine, milk thistle, glucose, black tea extract, L-carnitine, acai extract, concentrated coconut water, quercetin, guarana, inositol, glucuronolactone, goji berry extract, and mangosteen extract.

Yet, Rehab still is an energy drink, so it still has the usual suspects taurine and ginseng along with a bit of Vitamin B for safe measure.

Update: Monster Energy lists Monster Rehabs has 161mg of caffeine per 15.5oz can. Green Tea is listed as 155mg per can.

Effect

After drinking the entire can quite easily, it wasn’t to long before I began feeling a little Monster Rehab Energy Drink rush running through my veins. There isn’t much sugar in the can (6 grams) so I didn’t get jittery, but had a solid feeling of alertness that lasted a bit over 3 hours with no sign of a crash. However, I didn’t drink rehab for it’s intended purpose which is to help with a hangover.

Monster Rehab Verdict

After waiting so long for this energy drink, I thought the only thing it could do would disappoint, but I was wrong. I truly think Monster hit a home run with Rehab. I wasn’t sure I could love anything like RS Recovery, yet with the hint of tea, I believe Monster Rehab just upped the game. Also for all you drinkers who wake up with a hangover, give Monster Rehab Energy Drink a try. It should do wonders for that headache and get you back on your feet quickly.

Well I tried this the other day, and simply I’ll say I loved it. I used it to keep me alert on the job and it did not disappoint. I’m just wondering though, how healthy is it to drink one of these often? I’ve always got family warning me to stay away from energy drinks due to certain ingredients, but this one seems alot better for you. What I’m wondering is, should I still think of it as an energy drink, or something that I wouldn’t have to be as cautious about when it comes to my intake?

Had 2 Monster Rehabs last night. I don’t drink alcohol, enjoy Monster Rehab for its taste and energy purposes, but I’ve spent today puking my guts out — first thing after getting out of bed, and twice more since. Maybe it gave me a hangover?

  • olevia Mendoza

I drink up to 2 cans of Monster Rehabs a day. Since I go to school it definetly gives me a boost of energy which keeps me awake and more attentive. I love itXD

Monster Rehab is delicious. It tastes better than any bottled iced tea I have tried, and better than any other energy drink I’ve tried, sugared or diet. It is just too good tasting! Makes me want more than one, which would be too much stimulant. One can is about right for the energy lift- sometimes I even pour some into a bottle for later, because the energy works well. Honestly, if they made one without the energy blend, I would drink it right after the regular, I would drink three cans a day; it tastes that good.
Plus, I like the fact that it doesn’t have a lot of sugar, and isn’t just the standard energy formula that every drink has, but has some unique ingredients. Kudos to Monster on this one!

    I buy a 24pack at Sam’s club every week for $30 which equals $1.25 a can I drink 4 a freaking day

  • Betsi

I LOVE IT!!!! I can’t have carbonation so this drink is the best for me!!! I’m hooked!!

  • Rose

Taking night classes, and being a single Mom, plus the other craziness of life, I live on Rehabs.
The no carbonation talked me into trying one and I have been hooked.
Its the perfect sub for coffee on the 109 degree days here in Florida!

I have Diabetes, so the low carb factor is very important. But this drink also tastes great! Not cheap, but you get what you pay for. Again, it’s the best tasting energy drink out there.

  • I am addicted to Rehab.. ironic right.. and I think the 2 a day I have been drinking has caught up to me after the past month. I have gone through almost 2 cases in 4 weeks.. I may have to go to REHAB for Monster Rehab.. the side effects are not plesant

  • Rosemary

I must say I am a bit of an energy drink junkie. I have drank up to 5 of the VPX a day (before they nerfed it). Also I am a heavy partier, on the rare occasion I get a hangover these squash it in about 15 minutes or so after I finish the can. Not a big rush but it might be I’m desensitized to the effects. The lemonade is the best for hangovers as its loaded with electrolytes. But the flavor of the Red is top notch. Currently trying out neurosonic seems to be effective. Oh and the green tea version of reha has a very strange mouth feel, almost grainy or pulpy.

I agree with most everyone else on here that Monster did a wonderful job with this. I am an energy drink junkie. For those of you that are, you may remember that AMP made (maybe still sells in your area) a Black Tea energy drink that I fell in love with, but unfortunately either stopped making altogether or stopped selling in my area. This Rojo tea isnt as good, but man, it is pretty darn close. Lemonade flavor is also excellent. Glad that these came around as the RS recovery were starting to get a little old and I just cant handle the strong taste of some of the original ones.

  • clay

this is my favourate of the monster drinks available in the uk where im from i feel the need to shake every can before i drink it as i tryed it liked it and poored one into a glass and it came out cloudy witch from a can if it wasnt shaken the cloudyness would settle at the bottom and maybe effect the taste in my opinion the taste is better after shaking it and it also has that popping sound when you open it that other carbonated drinks do. shaking it may not actully make a difference but in my opinion it does and it seems like common sense to shake something witch may have some of the flavour settled at the bottom

I’ve been addicted to energy drinks for a long time now I was hammering 6cans of these monster/relentless drinks or the dirt cheap ones but along with ALOT of coffee usuaally 4 cups but before I was into Monster I was on 9-12 cups. I goto an addiction clinc and they put me on 2 a day of rehab, I did still energy drinks so they kept upping me and I was at 5/day and that’s it no more addiction. At first I was tired and depressed, I notice last ALOT longer it was 2 morning – 2 eve and 1 bed. with normal monster you rattle after 6-12hr and it gets bad but these drinks are more like 18hr+ I used to wake up sweating now I don’t. Over time I dropped out 1eve then 1bed then 1morn and now I am just at 2 drinks but I’ve tried dropping more and I relapsed.
