Quite Possibly the Most Powerful Energy Drink Ever

most-powerful-energy-drink

With so many energy drinks on the market, officials and consumers alike are concerned with the amount of caffeine in energy drinks and shots.

This has a lot to do with the reports of the recent deaths that have been blamed on energy beverages.

One of our goals at Caffeine Informer is to educate the consumer about how much caffeine is in the beverages and products that fill our store shelves.

Consumers can go to our Caffeine Database and find the most caffeinated drinks, but because there’s a lot of drinks, in varying sizes and caffeine content we’ve made things easier.

Based on caffeine/ounce alone, we list below the most caffeinated energy drinks and energy shots listed in our database.

Top 10 Most Powerful Energy Drinks/Shots

With the update to this list we now only include RTD energy shots and drinks. Mix ins like Liquid Caffeine are highly caffeinated but dependent on the user as regards to the amount of caffeine the “created” drink would contain.

Drink Feature: VPX Redline History

VPX Redline used to be #1 with their concentrated VPX Redline Fat Burner. However, this version has since been taken off the market.

The below account is based on The Original Redline which was a 240ml concentrated liquid.

Redline now distributes Redline RTD, Redline Extreme, Redline princess, and Redline Power Rush some of which are listed above.

All of these new version contain the original formula, but watered down.

One of the most powerful energy drinks is called VPX Redline Fat Burner. Amazon is lacking a little information, so here’s a little more:

Check out this freaky scientific VPX breakthrough: RED LINE®: is the only matrix ever developed to shred fat through the shivering response in the body. By shivering the body burns huge amounts of stored body fat for energy in an effort to keep the body warm. That’s not all! In addition to shivering, you’ll also be sweating up a thermogenic storm. The combined mechanisms of these two processes results in unparalleled fat loss!

What fun. Now, it’s pretty obvious looking at the ingredients that there’s caffeine. But get this: all of the aforementioned goodness, and the serving size is FOUR ml. About one TENTH of an ounce. The whole bottle has 240 ml, or 60 servings. Basically, a bottle of this, less than the size of a normal can of coke, WILL kill you. This is nothing to be playing around with.

I have friends. Not just normal friends, mind you. The kind of friends that voluntarily live on the streets. The kind of friends who, when drinking, race to forgetting. The kind of friends who take caffeine pills, ephedrine pills, and aspirin.. all at once. One, in particular, drinks and consumes over a gram of caffeine daily, to stave off the headaches. So you know this is a serious review:

oh yeah, it’s definitely 90% caffeine. the aftertaste is unmistakeable. the best part is that since i didn’t have my normal “dose” this morning, i probably won’t actually feel sh*t.

[10 minutes later]

the caffeine kicked in a lot faster than i expected. though in retrospect, it normally does when it’s in syrup form and tastes like ass.

feel oddly cold too. took me a minute to realize that while i still was warm, it was that ‘shiver’ reflex kicking in. it’s a lot like when
you get a chill at the back of your neck, but somewhat continuous.

So what’s in this magical bottle of awesome? Caffeine, Green Tea, Yerba Mate, 5-HTP (5 hydroxy-1-tryptophan), cAMP, Yohimbe, Evodiamine, and Vinpocetine. And a few other things.

I know, I know, so here’s some more info:

cAMP is cyclic adenosine monophosphate. It supposedly “sparks many intercellular processes.” Whatever that means. Increased concentrations supposedly raise thyroid horomone levels, and help fat burning (would help explain why it’s in a fat-burning supplement).

Yohimbe is a bark extract from a tree in Africa. It’s considered a natural aphrodisiac, and sold here to treat impotency, dilate pupils, and stimulate fat loss. It can also mess with your blood pressure, so watch out.

Evodiamine is derived from some Chinese fruit called Evodia Rutaecarpa. Supposedly burns fat.

Vinpocetine is an alkaloid derived from some periwinkle plant. It is used in Europe, Japan, and Mexico to treat crebrovascular and cognitive disorders. Some people claims it elevates metabolism, but with no proof.

And the interesting one in the group: 5-HTP. I made sure to spell it out, so the smart ones in the group have already figured out the key: Tryptophan. It’s the same stuff in turkey that makes you sleepy, and there’s scientific evidence of it. The 5-HTP compound is sometimes used to treat mild depression since, somehow, it can increase serotonin levels. It can also affect appetite, which may be part of why they put it in here. The other part? When you’re jacking up a drink with this much caffeine, you’re going to get jitters and “scatterbrain.” This may actually cut the disconnected thoughts out and allow you to think normally, but still give you the energy effects of caffeine. Awesome.

Apparently you can buy this stuff at places like Super Supplements, GNC, and even some 7-11s. The concentrate isn’t something you should take a guzzle of. Or even a large sip. If you search on the internet, you can see some people who took the recommended dose, and started blacking out towards the end of a workout. Blacking out. 4 mililiters. Damn. There’s also a ready-to-drink version (I would bet that’s the one at 7-11), and half a bottle is all that’s recommended. Pay attention to it. People are comparing the 1/2 bottle to a full hit of ephedra. Unless you’ve done that before and know the effect it has on your body, don’t go doing anything macho with this one.

Just for poignant measure, look at this review:

I recently purchased the liquid form of redline at a local 7 Eleven store.

It was the first time I have ever drank an energy drink that had such an affect. With in a few minutes , I started to sweat and shake. Being familiar with the effects of narcotics, I must say the feeling felt a lot like cocaine feels.

The most disturbing trait is that my penis shriveled up like I just got out of the icy cold ocean. I can’t help but think that this product will be taken off the market. The effects are too strong for some minors and may not be safe for people on certain medication which are yet to be known.

And this one:

I tried Redline today while heading to work. I am a huge fan of RedBull & Diet Rockstar. I am 33 years old & in excellent condition.

Having not read the warning label I drank the whole bottle within 5 minutes. Within 10 minutes I was blacking out behind the wheel & shaking uncontrollably. I pulled over at a gas station — I was having difficulty in swallowing and could not stand, breathe or see straight.

I could not even walk for the convulsions. A bystander called the paramedics. Needless to say – my blood pressure was sky high & I thought I was on my way out.

I feel this drink is extremely dangerous & should not be on the market. There needs to be a very visible warning label not to drink the whole bottle for beginners. It has been 5 hours now & I still do not feel normal.

This drink could seriously kill someone if not informed.
I am sorry but I will never drink this again nor recommend it to fellow peers.

    Dan,

You sir are an idiot. This stuff WHEN TAKEN ACCORDING TO THE LABEL is great. Excellent for workouts. All the body builders I know enjoy this before and after a workout. They also use other Redline (VPXSports) products for building muscle mass and creating “pump”. Again, they are very pleased with the results. I highly doubt a 15 yr old kid works at GNC. Nice try n00b.

  • paul

This stuff will kill u. the problems i have experienced is that you will puke if you start doing cardio. the breathing, and the throat thing that it does to u. it closes ur throat up, or it feels like it. stray away from it it can kill u.

  • Dr.Nuke

HELLO?! Hasn’t anyone else read the ENTIRE LABEL on the concentrate? “Do not use for weight reduction” “Use in conection with an increased exercise program and 6 servings a day of [some brand named diet they’re affiliated with] protein” “Do not use if more than 15 pounds overweight”

It’s intedned for BODY BUILDERS! People who like to have UNHEALY LOW BODY FAT CONCENTRATIONS so their muscles show better! You don’t use it for cardio! It’s for anerobic, high-intensity, exercise aimed at muscle building and fat burning.

That’s what the product is for, and that’s how I use it. Duh.

Question to the guy who drinks lots of expresso and had heart palpitations: Did you have your normal caffeine load in addition to the REDLINE, or did you replace it with the REDLINE?

  • Danielle

Hey. Had my first bottle of Redline today. I drink redbull, rockstar, and pretty much any other product like that on the market pretty frequently. I also take energy pills from time to time. I know all of this stuff is probably horrible for my health but whatever. Either way. I went out with my boyfriend and picked up a RTD bottle of this stuff… oh… about three hours ago. Didn’t read the warning and drank the whole thing in about a minute. I felt a little jittery for about half an hour, but being a person who has taken energy pills I am used to that when the pill/drink kicks in. It didn’t last very long, maybe because I ate right after. I noticed that my appetite was less than usual, but not so much that i felt sick. I didn’t start feeling shivers until I read that that is what the drink is supposed to do. Maybe KNOWING that it does that gave me a sort of placebo effect. I did not experience blackouts or anything of the sort.
I will say that i noticed the “rush” to be like that of the older energy pills that contained ephedrine. So I wouldn’t take this drink without knowing what effects high amounts of caffeine, or ephedrine have on your body.
Anyway, the bottom, line is that I don’t think the drink is all that bad. Anything of this nature can kill you with improper use. If you aren’t stupid about the way you take this sort of thing, and you EAT SOMETHING before you take it… you should be okay.
Just read the label, unlike me…
and don’t abuse anything like this.

  • Tish

A friend of mine recently bought a Redline from 7-11 and he said the feeling he got after drinking it is a feeling he wouldnt wish on anyone. He was jittery and sweating but kind of cold and he felt his heart beating really fast. He also didnt eat lunch or dinner because it kind of made him feel nautious and full. When he told me about it I wanted to buy it immediatly because I was on a diet back when the original Xenodrine w/ Ephedra got pulled off the market and I lost 30 pounds using that and the side effects sound similar. After your body gets used to it the nautious part goes away.

  • Tish

By the way, do you really think that most people read labels on anything? Im sure a majority of you posting comments on here do but alot of people dont read the label and really dont care about the side effects as long as it helps you lose weight. People are desperate and always looking for shortcuts. No you wont lost weight by eating greasy fried foods, not working out and taking a magic pill or drink (Redline), unless people start dieing from products like this nothing will happen and the product will just get more exposure and sell more.

  • Guy

I just got back from the gym after drinking roughly three fourths of a bottle before i went in. Right away i felt the effects of the drink. I went straight into my work out feeling full of energy. I worked out for two hours straight and the only side effect i noticed besides energy was that i felt warmer and was sweating more than usual. I think this stuff is probably the best body building pre workout drink i have ever tried. I’ve drink the nitro force ones before which work well but are usually followed by a crash. Its been almost 4 hours since i drank the stuff and i still feel great. I definitly would only reccommend this stuff to serious body builders and people who are in good health that want to get that extra boost of energy.

  • Ronnie

I personally drink this product ALL the time. Before I actually bought my first 8 oz. bottle of REDLINE, i did my homework on the drink and its effects. I even went to the GNC’s asking about the product. Because it is sold in a store like GNC, you KNOW you should read the label first. Any SMART person would know that. But there are the occasional dumb people I suppose. Later on, I bought a bottle and ate something before I started drinking it. I felt pretty good for awhile. Keeps me on my toes. I only drink half of the bottle right now for safety measures to ensure my health. I’m only 17 and drink it normally. Hasn’t killed me yet. I say, if you are smart about what you drink, you should be perfectly fine. But if you are dumb and not even close to precautious, then by all means…..Drink it.
    DRINK SAFELY

  • Bryan

I’m an 18 year old high school senior. I drink a whole can of redline before every wrestling match I have. The stuff is great, gets me pumped and excited and adds a nice boost of energy. It is however no where near as strong as some of the people here say it is….are you guys 95 years old, 40 pounds under weight and using it to chase cocaine? It is seriously not that bad. I use it to do cardio and everything else. I have never felt nauseated, short of breath, dizzy, or any other such thing that is being complained about here. Infact its starting to lose its effect on me and I wouldn’t be surprised if I had to move up to a can and a half or possibly two.

  • SP

I first bought Redline at GNC. The cashier diden’t read the label so I guess he did not see the disclaimer about minors drinking the liquid. I drank half the bottle as the intructions read in about five minutes. Half an hour later a began to shake and shiver. I took it at school and I had to write a one page paper in two hours. The effects of the drink made time speed by, and I could not focus at all. I looked at my work afterwards, and unlike my usual amazing writing, it was trash. During this two hour ordeal my heart rate sped up, I sweated a lot, and I had some trouble with my vision. After two hours I was drained completely. I would recommend it to everyone.

  • Adam

i drink redline before i lift and it seriously does the trick. i have football pe every 6th period and this is where we lift, but after that we still have football practice. redline gets me thru lifting and football practice with ease. i drink half a can before i lift and half a can before practice and it works wonders. im energized and feeling great and it definately shakes off that lazy feeling. if your smart about how you use this drink it will be great for you. but if your stupid and drink the whole bottle on an empty stomach youll probly puke out your guts. so read the label and drink half a can a day to start off with (after you eat something) and youll be fine.

  • Kirsty

I’m a 19-year-old female, and I take one Redline capsule on a semi-frequent basis. I will occasionally drink a few sips of the liquid form in place of a capsule.

It is not as intense for me as lots of you have claimed it is, especially if it’s used responsibly. If I take more than one capsule, I start to feel shaky and nauseous, but one capsule is enough to wake me up and keep me focused. It’s all about knowing your limits.

It makes me feel very calm, content, and in control. I stress less about trivial things. However, it doesn’t really decrease my appetite. If anything, it makes me hungrier, because it seems to burn off what was in my stomach to begin with.

  • Tim

I’m 19 years old, I wanted to stay up all night so I could get a lot of school work done. A couple of my friends have taken redline and they were ok, but my body didn’t take it well at all, I’ve had red bull vodkas and it was never a problem. I drank a redline and 3 beers on an empty stomache and just started to feel like I couldn’t breath, really shaky, heart beating fast, my body was hot, but I was really cold, I started freaking out and panicking and I thought I was going to die. So, my mom rushed me to an emergency room and I guess they couldn’t take me because they said it wasn’t that big of a deal after 2-3 hours waiting there, I laid down and I felt better , so I just went home. I got some rest, now I just have a big headache. Every body is different mine reacted really bad.

  • brian

I am an 18 year old, 180 lb male,I drank a full bottle of redline and 3 hours later ended up in the emergency room. this is no joke. I am warning everybody that even looks at this product to stay away from it. It gave me a feeling of the worst rapid heart beat and jitters, neaseu also.

  • Dylan

We all have different tolerances for caffiene, etc, reguardless of your weight. I down a red bull every period (1 and a half hours) sometimes, and do nothing more than get jumpy. I weigh 163.

As for drinking any energy drink on an empty stomach: bad idea. Take beer for an instance… You get hammered ALOT faster on an empty stomach than if you ate. Also, most (if not all) energy drinks contain thermogenic compounds, which increase motabilism (sorry about spelling). Your body needs the carbs to metabise, and if it has no carbs, you get no kick }(or worse). If you are thinking that I am wrong, you have drank an energy drink on an empty stomach, remember:SUGAR IS A CARBOHYDRATE.

Anything with ceratine is the best to me (No Fear) because it aids in muscle development, with adequate protein.

  • Dylan

    PS
REDLINE IS NOT FOR BEGINNERS OR PEOPLE THAT HAVE GONE ON A CAFFIENE ENUENDO, OR THOSE WITH AN INCREASED CAFFIENE TOLERANCE

    THIS STUFF IS STRONG
    YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED….

  • andre mills

this shyt almost killed md. i had a 190 pulse, dont drink the hole bottle like i did can ya dig my nig

  • Michael

today I was very low on energy even after doing my morning suppliment intake, AM meal and second Am meal I just couldnt get it going and my workout time was coming up so I needed something to boost my energy. I picked up some VPX Redline in the coffee shop at my job and lady said “only drink half” and on way back to my office this guy said “your going to be sick dude”. I only took half 30min before I hit the gym, it boosed my energy for sure but I could of took the whole bottle it wasnt that bad I started to sweat alot but thats it. its wearing off already and I’m just 30min out the gym from lifting and squats for an 1 1/2 hour.
    I’m 5’11 202 10% body fat
So eat up and you’ll be fine! Thats my take

  • kyle

RED line is simply the most powerful drink that i have consumed. I drank it, and 10 minutes later i was sweating. I felt like running. REd bull and other energy drinks dont even compare to this stuff.

  • mikeyy

today me and my friend tried redline. we each had the 8oz bottle you can pick up at 7-11. he took the recommended half and i took the whole thing. its been about 1hr 30mins since i took my whole bottle and i feel the same as i drink any other energy drink, awake. but on the ride home from walking around the mall for about a hour i yawned and my eyes got watery and i felt tired. im 18, 6flat 200 pound guy but i think it mainly has to do with your own personal tolerance to caffeine as dylan said. i was a little disappointed that it wasnt as crazy as everyone hyped it up to be. but im not saying it didnt work either. i feel the same as if i drank a monster [drank 2 yesterday]. so just saying if anyone wants to try it, go for it. just make sure your not on a empty stomach and take the recommended dose to test your own tolerance to it. overall, i liked it.
