Rockstar Recovery Energy and Hydration Review

rockstar-recovery-energy-hydrationRockstar Recovery is Rockstar Energy’s Hydration and Energy line of drinks. Here’s what I thought of the 2 flavors of Rockstar Recovery.

Very few have attempted a lemonade energy drink, and none very well, but I will keep an open mind and give you a shot. Rockstar, you haven’t failed me yet, so lets give Recovery a try…

Lemonade: Wow, wow, and wow. As for energy drinks, Rockstar Recovery has hit a home run, not even a home run, a lemonade flavored Grand Slam! For sure in my top 5 all time.

Not a strong lemonade flavor, but very smooth and very delicious, a MUST try for all energy drink and lemonade fans.

Orange: The flavor is described as “orange”, and since this drink is non-carbonated, I was expecting an orange flavor similar to an orange Gatorade.

My prediction was partially accurate, but since this drink is made with 3 percent juice, it tasted more like orange juice than an orange Gatorade.

The only drawback to the taste was the taste of artificial sweeteners. Other than that, Orange is another killer Rockstar Recovery flavor.

Rockstar Recovery Ingredients

Lemonade: Ingredients are quite close to those of a normal Rockstar. 2000 mg Taurine, 160 mg of so called caffeine, 100mg ginseng, 40mg of Milk Thistle, but with electrolytes to help you “recover” from whatever you need “recovering” from and only 20 Calories per can. Yet most importantly, most very much importantly, 3% lemon juice, so there mom, its got juice in it, it has to be good for me…

Recovery orangeOrange: 100 percent daily value of vitamin B3, 100 percent daily value of vitamin B5, 100 percent daily vitamin B6, 250 percent daily value of vitamin B12, 2,000 milligrams of taurine, 160 milligrams of caffeine, 100 milligrams of panax ginseng extract, 100 milligrams of prickly pear extract, and 40 milligrams of milk thistle extract.

Actually didn’t realize any sort of buzz or jolt from Rockstar Recovery. I actually drank the whole thing without even realizing it, it’s that smooth. So if your looking for that all out energy rush, sorry my caffeine addicted fella’s, there’s nothing more here then your basic lemonade drink from your local carnival, well ok, maybe a little more if you’re a caffeine light weight…

Rockstar truly produced a one of a kind energy marvel with the release of Rockstar Recovery. Even though I didn’t seem to get any extra energy from the drink, the flavor will definitely keep me coming back for more and will regularly be in my rotation. Bravo Rockstar, Bravo!

It won’t be for long Kelley, I read the other day that Rockstar will be heavily pushing their 4 new additions this summer so expect it to be everywhere soon. 🙂

Wow. Best new energy drink out there by far. Finally an energy drink that doesn’t destroy my stomach, tastes good, and really is extremely refreshing. Hopefully this sells well and sticks around. I’m abandoning Zero Carb in favor of this.

  • I was very impressed with this drink. I love low carb energy drinks and when I found this at the gas station it was love at first site. It has become my favorite low carb drink so far.

  • Ive been drinking this stuff all weekend , sure it doesnt have that carbonated taste but damn is it good , I think it works … and heck with 20 cal , you cant go wrong , especially as much as i drink this stuff >>> Great Job Rockstar!!

  • Porknbeans

have to say, this is one of my least favorites. There’s a 2/$4 sale going on at my Esso for a couple of weeks now so I bought both the cola and the recovery. The recovery taste is so light, its like I’m drinking water with a lemon squeezed into it. I could probably make my own recovery drink for a lot cheaper. For me, energy drinks should always taste sweet;I love the Juiced line because I love that sugary taste, in fact, I find myself craving it sometimes.

  • Tazmen

i didnt like the after taste. really nasty after taste. but its smooth, and lemony enough. i wouldnt buy it again. im going to stick to my citrus punched for the time being.

  • Jeff

I love this stuff! I lived on this stuff during finals week, and drink it in the morning, it definitely makes me more alert, kinda uppity, maybe i’m a caffeine light-weight like he said, but i’m usually turned off of energy drinks that have lots of sugar, are carbonated, or are made with high fructose corn syrup, i love this stuff!

  • Andrew

Best energy drink out there. Doesn’t make me nervous or twitchy but does make me alert and focused. Not to mention it tastes amazing.

  • juha

Where I can buy that??? answer: juha(at)

  • Philip

This is what an energy drink should be Rockstar Recovery gives you the same boost as any other energy drink without the 50mg or higher of sugar plus electrolytes anytime I drink this I am not thirsty afterwards any energy drink with tons of sugar and carbonation is sure to leave you thirsty

  • Aaron

By far my favorite. I feel a buzz from it but I wouldnt rate it up with some others but 20 calories and 1g sugar you can’t go wrong.I love this stuff! lol

  • sam

I use it before and after i workout…It give me incredible lasting energ. Whatever it has in it works…

  • Christine

LOVE LOVE LOVE it! This is the ONLY eDrink that does not taste awful or like Alka-Seltzer. We need more Rockstar drink flavors that are liek this: low carb, almost no sugar, and few calories! PERFECT!!

  • Alan

I have bought Rockstar Recovery at Walmart, Turkey Hill, Sheetz, Rutters and 7 Eleven. Cheapest at Walmart, $1.78

  • deno

Luckily ther are two more flavors now! Orange and Grape, although i dont really like the grape, but i LOVE the orange.

  • David Young

Found 2 new flavours of Rockstar Recovery in grocery in Louisville Ky.

Orange and Grape–still non carbonated, same caffeine content, essentially identical ingredients list as before. As with the lemonade flavour, Both very tasty, very smooth to drink. Orange flavour better “bouquet” than Grape.
Lemonade flavour has been my “go to” drink since it came out for both sports and general pick me up use.
Sam’s Club has 12 packs of lemonade flavour in KY now

Like this wayy better than ANY energy drink based on taste. You can drink the whole can on a hot day, work out, and feel like you won’t puke. I need to drink 2 becuase one isn’t enough caffeine. It’s only 20 calories and doesn’t have tons of sugar which is a HUGE plus, no high-fructose corn syrup either. (are u listening Amp energy drinks? -VERY gross)

It’s priced less than Red Bull (which I religiously drink)and the yellow can did catch my eye as I was grabbing for the Red Bull. I felt more refreshed after this than my usual drink and didn’t have the energy drink crash on this and the light lemonade flavor is perfect. (Less caffeine and sugar??)

  • Damian

The lemonade flavor is definantly the best rockstar.. Hydration. Great taste. Barely any sugar esp when like others, have that fear called diabetes. They also make an orange one, which tends to taste like tang, but def a great alternative to mix up your jolt.

  • Rob

I love this stuff. It is perfect when I have had a little too much to drink the night before. It is also great when I am just thirsty. This flavor is very refreshing, as is the orange, but I like this better. Unfortunately it is hard to find though.

  • Cryptic One

Two Thumbs up Rockstar!! For making this Lemonade one and the sugar free one… No calories at all or sugar!! Not bad for an energy drink.. guess what ya’ll I get mines for $1!! Yep $1 I live in east LA and they sell them for this price at El Super and Superior markets.
