Don Tomas Estate Coffee is sourced from 100% arabica coffee beans grown on the El Triunfo estate in Jinotega, Nicaragua. It is shade grown at an elevation of 1100 meters. This gourmet coffee is roasted by the Don Tomas company located in San Francisco and shipped fresh to customers throughout North America. Customers can purchase fresh ground coffee or whole beans. The caffeine content shown is typical of the drip/filter brewing method.

Don Tomas sent me some samples of their fresh ground coffee to review. I'm a huge coffee fan and this is my primary method of getting my daily caffeine dose. I usually grind my own coffee because the taste is so much better than pre-ground coffee that has been on shelves for some time. However, when I opened the package of Don Tomas Coffee, I could tell by the great aroma that this coffee was ground just prior to shipment. Both the dark and medium roast blends they sent had an amazing aroma.

Well, if the aroma was any indication of the taste, I knew I had a winner. I was dead on. This is great tasting coffee. I used a drip coffee maker and I can imagine that Don Tomas would be even better in an espresso maker or french press.

Don Tomas coffee is available online for about $12 a pound. This is pretty on par with other gourmet coffees. I like the fact that Don Tomas uses money from coffe sales to make sure their growers and pickers are well taken care of. They even funded a new school in Jinotega for the children there. If you're a coffee fan, you'll certainly be a fan of Don Tomas Coffee.
