10 Hour Time Release Energy Shot is made by Eternal Energy in attempt to push the energy envelope to a whole new level.

UPDATE: 10 Hour is no longer available, and has been replaced by Eternal Energy Extra Strength.

They do this by using caffeine encapsulation technology, which allows time released caffeine to be placed into beverages where it slowly enters the bloodstream over time.

Eternal 10 Hour Energy Shot initially delivers 222mg of caffeine, but then it slowly releases another 200mg over time. (Over about a 6 hour period.)

10 Hour Time Release Review

I was recently sent some samples of Eternal's new shot by the company.

As the caffeine expert at Caffeine Informer, I have sampled a staggering number of caffeinated products, but never anything like 10 Hour Energy Shot.

I've seen other shots claim "all day energy", but they never delivered that promise. 10 Hour isn't like them at all.

Taste

The taste of 10 Hour Time Release is much like other shots. Sweet, tangy, and mediciny; that's supposed to taste like some mystery berry. Nothing to brag about here, but then 10 minutes later.....

10 Hour's Energy

  • 8:30 am: After 10 minutes the first dose of caffeine started to kick in and I was wide-awake, motivated, productive, and loving life.
  • 1 pm: I went to the gym and had a very energetic workout and felt great.
  • 3 pm: Back to work and still going strong. Not an ounce of desire to stop working and take my afternoon nap. I usually work until 4:30, but kept going until 6 pm.
  • 7 pm: Cooked dinner and still felt energetic.
  • 8-10 pm: Watched some tv and didn't feel like dozing off even once, which is unusual. (10 pm is my normal bedtime.)
  • 11 pm: Lying in bed trying to go to sleep, but it's not working.
  • 12 pm: Still awake
  • 12:30 pm: Finally drifted off at some point.

I think 10 Hour should be called 16 Hour Energy Shot!

Disclaimer: About 2 months ago I completed a caffeine detox and then quit consuming caffeine daily to reset my caffeine tolerance. I now have caffeine about once per week, so therefore, I experienced 10 Hour Extended Release as a person with zero tolerance to caffeine.

Those that consume caffeine daily would probably experience less from this shot than I did, but I still think they would be impressed.

This energy shot is definitely for healthy adults only and should not be used by children.

Also, if you aren't a daily consumer of caffeine be warned that 10 Hour Energy Shot may interfere with your sleep. I recommend using this shot as early in the day as possible.

Caffeine encapsulation sure opens the door for a whole new breed of energy products and also makes managing your caffeine intake a little more tricky.
