Starbucks Caramel Macchiato is a newer addition to their espresso based coffee options.

It is a bit different than a standard latte for a couple of reasons:

The espresso shots are extracted on top of the steamed whole milk to create a layered type appearance and taste. Caramel syrup is poured on top.

This drink replaces the previous Latte Macchiato (which had a double shot even for a short and tall). It is different to a traditional Espresso Macchiato where there the espresso shots are marked with a very small amount of steamed milk.
