VPX Redline Putting People In Hospital

redline-health-problems

Redline Energy Drink may be racking up a history of sending some people to the hospital with health problems.

After all, Redline is one of the most powerful energy drinks and has even been pulled from some retailers’ shelves.

Redline is really intended to be used as a workout aid and energy drink enthusiasts know that Redline is a drink that you don’t mess with.

The label on the bottle says to only drink a half of a bottle at a time.

However, some fail to heed or read these warning and have found themselves in the hospital because of Redline.

Health Problems Linked to Redline

Here are some reported cases of people drinking Redline and then experiencing negative health consequences.

  1. A guy drinks two 8-ounce cans of Redline RTD (along with a burrito). Minutes later he collapses, shaking violently (via SacBee). He got Redline from a 7-11.
  2. A teenager who drank several Redlines per day had the following problems revealed by an endoscope. Severe inflammation, bleeding and ulcerations in a the upper part of the small intestine, which was causing severe stomach pain. src.
  3. A Texas man filed suit against Redline because within 10 hours of drinking the energy drink he experienced “excessive heart rate, extreme chest pain, lost sensation in his hands and had extreme nausea” . He had to be hospitalized until they could get his heart rate under control. src.
  4. A 57 year old man suffered a hemorrhagic stroke after consuming a Redline. He reported that his symptoms began 15 minutes after consumption. The man in question did not follow the recomendations on the bottle to only consume half at a time and to avoid consumption if suffering from high blodd pressure. Here’s the abstract and a more detailed article about the event.

Is It just the Caffeine in Redline?

Besides the caffeine Redline contains (250-316 milligrams), it also contains Yohimbine, which is another powerful stimulant. According to drugs.com the side effects of Yohimbe are as follows.

  • Nervous system side effects have included excitation, increased motor activity, tremor, and dizziness.
  • Cardiovascular side effects have included elevation in blood pressure and increase in heart rate.
  • Gastrointestinal side effects have included nausea and vomiting, commonly reported after parenteral administration of yohimbine.
  • Psychiatric side effects have included irritability and generalized anxiety.
  • General side effects have included headache and increase in sweating.
  • Dermatologic side effects have included skin flushing reported with oral administration.

Who’s to Blame?

At Caffeine Informer we believe there is shared responsibility on both the part of the manufacturer and the consumer.

The manufacturer must clearly post warnings and directions of use as well as not promote the product where it could fall into the hands of minors.

However, it is the consumer’s responsibility to heed warning labels and use products only as directed.

Some may not understand how his/her body will react to the stimulants in Redline and that is why consumers are directed to consume only half a bottle at a time.

We hope the reports of the hospitalizations as the result of Redline, will teach people to follow the energy drink’s warning label and prevent history from repeating itself.

This stuff is dangerous. I am a 48 year old RN and I drank 1/2 the bottle yesterday and thought they would have to call an ambulance to work. It gave me the shakes, the sweats and severe nausea. It is the most dangerous stuff out there in energy drinks. I don’t know how they are allowed to sell it. It tastes good and I hope that no child gets ahold of the stuff and drinks it because it will kill them. And the feeling from it is not even good. It is not like energy, it is more like an all over shaky feeling and feeling sick.

Redline is God’s gift. I drink it religiously n responsibly. Read the warning label dumbasses!

People, Redline is a high stimulant product and as such should be treated as such. I use Redline Extreme which contains approximately 158mg caffeine in a half bottle (316mg full). If you do not know your caffeine tolerance you should start off with maybe even a 1/4 bottle. When used correctly this product can produce amazing results and the preworkout supplement NO Shotgun contains Redline technology and also produces great results. Bottom line is that you must know what you are putting into your body. Supplements such as these are not meant for the occasional caffeine user, unless used RESPONSIBLY.

I have a very strong caffeine tolerance and love to test enegry drinks, having that said i decided to try this stuff, i first tried 1/2 a can and waited a half hour, nothing happened to me, so i had the other half, well i felt pretty good and about 2 hours later i drank another one, after the second one i got jittery and got sweats, moral of the story- always read the label and you shouldn’t have any problems.

    Ok..
I’ve been drinking Lo-Carb Monster for the past 3 months, and it doesn’t make me shake, sweat, nor does it elevate my heart rate to any noticeable level. I weigh approximately 170 pounds. I usually keep my refrigerator stocked with Monster, door and all. Every day in first hour I drink Monster and it’s strong enough to keep me awake and focused for the whole day.

I was out of Monster today and my step-dad bought two lemonade Redline Xtreme drinks. I took one and got on the bus. I read the entire bottle and followed the instructions. The only instruction I did not follow is I am 16, not 18. But I weigh just as much as a lot of people at 18 years of age, so I said screw it. Worst mistake of my life.
I drank a quarter, nothing. Drank another quarter (half the bottle) and this is what happened….

    • Shaking
    • Sweating
    • Nausea
    • Paranoia
    • Horrible tasting
    • Raised blood pressure, could feel the veins in my neck swelling
    • Extremely elevated heart rate

Do not drink this crap. It is the end of the day and I feel terrible, still shaking. Seriously, stay away from it. I’m never drinking this stuff again. I hope I can sleep tonight. I hope this gets pulled from the shelves, because believe me this stuff is not safe. Worst energy drink in the world. I’m sticking to Monster and coffee.

I drank 1/5 of a bottle (less than half a serving). I am now shaking, light-headed, heart is pounding, shivering, can’t concentrate, my face feels numb, and my stomach is highly upset. I’m so glad I didn’t drink more of it. 29 years old

  • mee

Haha wow u ppl are light weights. Its understandable though. 2 bottles of redline is nothing to me but im a serious sim junky (eca, clen) I gave my gf some and she couldn’t contain her jitters. So I guess the moral is if u dont work out and know ur body stop taking shit in to it!

  • mee

Yes b.c spelling has a direct effect on IQ. Retard

  • Some Jerk

I never drink energy drinks. I have a low tolerance for such a big guy. Coffee more than wakes me up. I still think they should leave the labels where they are. Let the Social Darwinism begin. Just cut out the lawyers and things would be nice and simple…You didn’t read the label and did something stupid that caused adverse effects? Tough shit. Learn some self control.

  • Joshua

It does not need to be pulled from the shelves just because your body rejected it. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean I don’t. I love them. They get me through my day at work. If you don’t like the Xtreme ‘ s, get the blue bottle. It’s essentially half of the red ones.
